Making queer friends in Boise can feel impossible. It isn't.

Idaho's queer scene is real but quiet, our nightlife is thin, and a lot of us spend the workweek code-switching just to stay under the radar. By the weekend there is not much energy left for making the first move.

The most reliably affirming room in the city, serving the Treasure Valley LGBTQIA+ community since 1983. Craft afternoons, LEGO night, Bunco, discussion groups. Park in the rear — the entrance is at the back.
Rediscovered Bookshop

Independent and well curated, three minutes from the Boise Centre. Good for a book-club-shaped meet-up, where conversation happens sideways rather than face to face.
Flying M Coffee House

The closest thing Boise has to a default first-meeting spot. Long hours mean you can suggest it for breakfast or eight in the evening without it becoming a night out.
